The incumbent will focus on productivity, safety, quality and continuous improvement in the compounding department to meet department targets and company goals. The incumbent will monitor the development of the afternoon shift operation for product manufacturing and will oversee all related health and safety initiatives.

The Compounding Shift Manager is a results-driven individual with a sense of urgency. The incumbent will focus on productivity, safety, quality and continuous improvement in the compounding department to meet department targets and company goals. The incumbent will monitor the development of the afternoon shift operation for product manufacturing and will oversee all related health and safety initiatives.

What would you be doing?

  • Drive improvements, promote safety and help improve quality and output while managing the manufacturing environment from process development and through production life cycles Implementation of continuous improvement programs in the department.
  • Ensuring quality of the product as per the guidelines set by QA/QC standards and SOPs.
  • Ensure robust communication of performance versus target.
  • Lead the team in selection of the appropriate equipment and support systems as needed to support growth of the operation and continuous cost improvements
  • Lead the process design, development and validation activities for new product line. Takes ownership to complete G.M.P. documents, such as the batch records, C&S logs, housekeeping logs and other documents updated at all times.
  • Develop a culture which minimizes risks throughout the area and ensures compliance with regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain general housekeeping of compounding area includes keeping all pipes, hoses, clamps, gaskets, and other processing equipment off the floor and in proper storage area. Implementation of on the job training and development program for each position and new hire within the department.
  • Lead development of all Engineering data-related to the associated products, material, BOM's, routers, work centers, process sheets and ensure integration with our existing systems
  • Establish KPIs for the operations and develop annual programs to ensure that continuous improvements are achieved
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment by promoting good practice of health and safety Train, evaluate, motivate, and instruct direct reports in company goals and responsibilities.
  • Facilitate the continuing education and performance of their direct reports. Set and support goals for appropriate personnel and execute good manufacturing practices while promoting a safe environment.
  • Other duties/projects as assigned

What skills and qualifications do you need?

  • BS degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, Science, Chemistry or related discipline
  • Experience in managing a multiple shift operation with the ability to lead a team of 20+ in a GMP environment
  • Excellent communication skills both written and orally
  • Experience writing technical reports to include developing and updating SOP's Experience in process design and improvement in both batch and continuous operations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Fish Bone Diagram
  • A minimum of 7-10 years' experience in Health and Beauty or Drug industry
  • Experience with process troubleshooting
  • Proven ability to handle work place conflict and problem resolution
  • Comprehensive knowledge of FDA, Health Canada and CGMP required
  • Experience with ISO 13485, TQM and ERP Systems
  • The individual will work in Compounding/ Pre-weigh Facility
  • Constant interaction across various departments Flammable, combustible, toxic and corrosive chemicals maybe present in the work area. Constant change is to be expected in a high-pressured environment.
  • Ability to work in a noisy, well-lit environment with motorize equipment
