Compounding Technician (AM or PM Shifts)

The Compounding Shift Manager is a results-driven individual with a sense of urgency. This person will focus on productivity, safety, quality and continuous improvement in the compounding department to meet department targets and company goals.

What are we looking for?

Compound Technicians are responsible for ensuring GMP processes and SOP Instructions are followed to safely produce quality batches through the verification and addition of chemicals to batches, and documentation of batching activities.

What would you be doing?

  • Compounding all sorts of batches but not limited to aqueous based products, O/W, W/O, anhydrous products as per SOP's and Master Formulas Able to check all pre-weighed raw materials, and need to dispense raw materials when required
  • Ability to operate various equipment, including fully and semi-automatic kettles, pumps, agitators, hoists and scales Perform calibration checks for scales, gauges and mixers Collect representative samples of product batches and co-ordinates with R&D team to make sure the finished product matches the standard Cleaning and Sanitation of batching kettles according to Standard Operating Procedure Required to perform other duties as assigned Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE (respirators, face shields, eye glasses, etc.) and report any workplace injuries or accidents.
  • Complete G.M.P. documents, such as the batch records, C & S logs, housekeeping logs and other documents as required, right at first time
  • Maintain general housekeeping of compounding area includes keeping all pipes, hoses, clamps, gaskets, and other processing equipment off the floor and in proper storage area
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
  • Familiar with 5S processes and Lean Manufacturing Concepts

What skills and qualifications do you need?

  • Minimum High School Diploma or Post-Secondary education in scientific discipline is preferred or 3 years of Canadian experience in a pharmaceutical / cosmetic / food manufacturing environment a must. Having color matching skills is an added advantage
  • Knowledge and understanding of WHMIS Strong English communication skills and math skills (addition, subtraction, division, fractions)
  • Demonstrated ability to read and follow written instructions and work with minimal supervision Mechanical ability and understands basics in equipment operation
  • Must be able to actively listen and receive coaching as required
  • Work Environment: The individual will work in the Warehouse/Production facility located in Etobicoke, ON home base office.

  • Constant interaction with a variety of chemicals and chemical products.
  • Ability to lift varying weights of raw materials as required
  • Must be able to use dollies, fork trucks, and manual pallet jacks
  • Working with unpleasant odors and fumes.
  • Constant heavy lifting and high noise levels.
  • Flammable, combustible, toxic and corrosive chemicals maybe present in the work area.
  • Constant change is to be expected in a high-pressured environment.
  • 2+ years of related experience required.
  • Able to lift, push/pull up to 50lbs throughout the day. Require physical dexterity
  • Using hands and arms together to move various items
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
