As the Head of Retail, your main objective is to direct and oversee all retail operations (DECIEM owned and concessions) and staff throughout North America (20 stores across Canada and USA). As the Head of Retail, you must possess strong leadership and management skills in order to ensure the company’s steady growth.

What would you be doing?

  • As the Head of Retail, your main objective is to direct and oversee all retail operations (DECIEM owned and concessions) and staff throughout North America in order to ensure the company’s steady growth
  • Act as the main point of contact for Area Sales Managers and/or Store Managers within the region and is responsible for the operations of a regional group of stores, staff, and results, ensuring that proper store policies and procedures are followed.
  • Supervises all staff within their region and oversee sales, merchandising, customer experience and all operational functions
  • Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop team to maximize sales, profitability and exceed agreed key performance indicators across the region
  • Achieve operational targets and responsible for financial planning activities including monitoring profit and loss statements, implementing measures to attain target metrics--including P&L and staffing budgets for the regions
  • Daily, weekly and monthly business reviews to identify further opportunity
  • Successfully develop and performance manage team members through education, coaching and guidance
  • Manage performance issues as they arise and partner with Director and/or HR as needed
  • Support store team for store events in conjunction with merchandising and communications teams to drive traffic
  • Coordinate with corporate departments on merchandising needs, keeping stores up to DECIEM standard
  • Support maintenance of DECIEM’s visual merchandising standards according to the official merch guidelines
  • Work with all corporate departments to ensure corporate initiatives are rolled out in an effective manner
  • Communicate important corporate initiatives to team, ensuring full understanding of company objectives and vision
  • Work with store inventory teams to manage stock levels and make key decisions about stock control
  • Complete store operational requirements by managing Area Sales Managers and following up on execution
  • Tour stores and concessions regularly, talking to colleagues and customers to identify or resolve urgent issues.
  • Maintain effective community relations within store jurisdictions
  • Support HR team in various projects such as recruitment and training as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

What skills and qualifications do you need?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Operations Management, Business Administration or related designation is required
  • Min 7+ years of sales and operations experience in a multi-store retail environment is required
  • Min 5+ years of proven leadership and retail management experience
  • Strong business acumen including experience working with KPI’s and other performance metrics
  • Strong problem solver and negotiator which is an asset to resolving complex employee relation cases
  • Excellent follow-up skills and ability to build solid collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven track record of getting things done and executing against both operational and strategic goals to deliver on company’s key objectives
  • Excellent follow-up skills and ability to build solid collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrates how to implement/manage change
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, managing conflicting priorities and tight deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills to coach and mentor employees as well as counsel managers at retail level
