Deciem is looking for a Packaging Manager who will be responsible for delivering efficiency and productivity in packaging, while implementing processes that drive continuous improvement.

Deciem is looking for a Packaging Manager who will be responsible for delivering efficiency and productivity in packaging, while implementing processes that drive continuous improvement.

What would you be doing?

  • Lead the packaging warehouse team, correct the right type of defects, and communicate to the maintenance department the types of defects that can't be corrected by warehouse associates in order to maintain the integrity of warehouse equipment and sustain production
  • Responsible for establishing ownership of document accuracy on the floor and the process to ensure they are updated and match team site documents
  • Lead the development of work practices that promote autonomy and accountability at all levels
  • Work across all departments including production, maintenance and quality
  • Ensures the team follows all safety guidelines, good manufacturing practices, and quality systems by being a role model
  • Provide information and direction to their team to achieve safety, quality, and delivery
  • Ensure safety regulations are fully complied with personal protective equipment, fall protection, forklift and hazard communication requirements
  • Complete accident reports on the date of occurrence
  • Follow DECIEM’s Quality Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain high standards of Good Manufacturing Practices and housekeeping in the department
  • Achieve goals for warehouse, shift, and facility
  • Ensure that all department employees are properly oriented and trained
  • Accountable for employee's performance management, attendance tracking, training documentation and evaluate performance and recommend areas of improvements/training
  • Support operators to troubleshoot warehouse equipment if an error is encountered
  • Facilitate the accurate assessment of performance and implementation of ideas
  • Get feedback from employees on the floor on a regular basis to assess understanding and application of best practices and adjust plans accordingly
  • Responsible for leading team to run warehouse while ensuring that Safety and Quality are met
  • Mentor employees in increasing their troubleshooting skills and on the equipment and processes
  • Lead and train employees to identify areas of opportunities for improvement, and define action plans
  • Responsible for leading team to perform all change over as predefined in order to complete them with the minimum possible downtime
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What skills and qualifications do you need?

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Business or Engineering or related field is required
  • 5 + years of experience within a similar role within GMP manufacturing or similar environment is required
  • 2 + years of people management or leadership experience within the supply chain department or relevant department is required
  • Forklift and pump truck licensed are an asset
  • Proficient in Safety, GMP and GDP
  • Ability to read and understand SOPs
  • Prior technical experience in processing and packaging in manufacturing is desired
  • Computer skills in Microsoft office
  • Exceptional English communication (verbal and written) skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to influence without authority is required
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict management and fair management practices is required
  • Ability to lead, coach, develop and provide direction to teams
  • Flexible to work any shift, work during the weekends and overtime as needed
