Product Designer

A product designer is responsible for the design and development of consumer products. Duties of this position include improving existing product designs and analyzing working concepts launched by competitors of similar products to match quality and performance.

What are we looking for?

A product designer is responsible for the design and development of consumer products. Duties of this position include improving existing product designs and analyzing working concepts launched by competitors of similar products to match quality and performance.

What would you be doing?

  • Identify opportunities for new products
  • Ensure packaging is being designed properly and effectively
  • Ensure that packages are functional
  • Work closely with Packaging Engineer, Procurement, and Sustainability teams
  • Analyze how a new product ties in with market needs and consumer preferences
  • Set design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external partners
  • Research materials and techniques
  • Understanding technology, production methods, and materials (such as textiles, metals and plastics)
  • Working within budgets
  • Sketch drafts on paper or digitally (for example, using CAD)
  • Use 3D modeling software to design products and components
  • Produce prototypes and test functionality
  • Improve the design of existing products
  • Gather feedback from product users
  • Research user needs and behaviors, define user personas, collect user feedback and translate it into better performing experiences
  • Help determine product specifications, needs, goals and scope.
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Actively learn and grow
  • Have fun :)

What skills and qualifications do you need?

  • 4+ years of experience as a Product Designer or similar role.
  • BSc/MSc in Product Design, Manufacturing Design Engineering or relevant field.
  • Experience in industrial design.
  • Illustrator
  • Photoshop
  • Critical thinking
  • Creativity in mixing up colors, shapes and techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools.
  • Good knowledge of SolidWorks. (3D Software)
  • Time-management skills.
  • Adaptability.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Teamwork
  • Creativity & visual design
  • Empathy
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing/Factory Production Line.
