Production Planning Assistant

The production planning assistant will work closely with the Senior Manager for Production Planning on the day to day planning requirements of the production facility. The production planning assistant will process demand and inventory data to develop weekly plans for compounding, packaging and filling. The position will also involve assessment of production forecasts to consistently improve the planning process.

What are we looking for?

The production planning assistant will work closely with the Senior Manager for Production Planning on the day to day planning requirements of the production facility. The production planning assistant will process demand and inventory data to develop weekly plans for compounding, packaging and filling. The position will also involve assessment of production forecasts to consistently improve the planning process.

What would you be doing?

  • Works with the Senior Production Planning Manager to generate weekly production schedules for compounding, filling and packaging teams.
  • Assigns equipment based on weekly production schedules to optimize period throughput.
  • Liaises with the inventory control manager and materials manager to ensure that all required components are available based on the requirements of the master schedule.
  • Evaluates production on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to determine if production is meeting requirements based on the production schedule.
  • Liaises with the Quality team to determine the best path forward when production holds occur due to raw material, packaging or process issues.
  • Keeps track of Quality parameters as it relates to production. Quality parameters include: tracking expiry dates of bulk, adjusting schedules based on available inventory and adjusting proximate production schedules based on unforeseen events.
  • Provides a monthly comprehensive report on missed targets indicating reasons for the shortfall and potential solutions to attain targets.
  • Coordinates with our 3rd party production facilities to ensure planned production is within schedule.
  • Participate in capacity planning, operations planning and distribution planning for the facility.

What skills and qualifications do you need?

  • College diploma
  • 2 to 3 years in an administrative role preferably in a manufacturing, supply chain or operations role
  • Competent in data processing and analysis
  • Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite particularly in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Functional knowledge in various ERP systems
