• We don’t call ourselves a sustainable beauty company, as we don't have all the answers, yet.

  • DECIEM was founded on transparency, and we believe that any business based on consumption (including ours) cannot be truly and fully sustainable within the current limits of sustainability in business.

But that’s not an excuse to stop trying. We are working hard to address and mitigate our environmental impact, challenging ourselves to communicate with honesty and transparency about where we are in this journey. We are committed to continuous learning to improve our practices.

  • “Sustainability” has become a loaded term, often used to oversimplify complex systems. Our approach is the opposite: we look across our entire supply chain to understand where positive change can happen, because it’s never one single solution, it’s many parts working together as one.

We believe that beauty exists between us and the Earth, and that striving to do things better is a natural extension of this belief.

CLIMATE

Caring about our planet is human and humane. It means caring for ourselves and others, too. The realities of climate change can appear overwhelming, and the pressure to make perfect choices can be paralyzing. These feelings can make it seem as though there’s no way to help make a difference, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

At DECIEM, we hold onto that belief. We push ourselves to improve while recognizing that sustainability is a collective effort, not an individual burden. We want to create a space where action is driven by scientific knowledge, not fear – where progress, no matter how small, is celebrated. That’s why our climate work includes mental well-being and belonging.

  • PARTNERSHIPS

As part of this holistic process, we form meaningful partnerships with organizations dedicated to restoring ecosystems and driving positive impact. It’s a two-way street – we learn from experts and innovators, and we use our platform to help elevate their work. Solutions at scale drive greater change. We know we can’t do this alone. • As a consumer goods company, we understand that every product we produce could have an impact. Something that is positive for our community may have an unintended negative effect on the environment. That’s why we accept the responsibilities at hand: to constantly refine our operations, to create the best products we can, and to stay honest about the complexities of sustainability.

Our responsibilities don't end at our products or processes. They extend to how we talk with our community.

  • That’s why we encourage conscious consumption, never overconsumption. Science-led education is at the heart of what we do, because the best choices aren’t made in a rush or a vacuum; they're made with care.

This philosophy grew from our years of Slowvember, a moment when we closed on Black Friday and encouraged thoughtful, intentional purchasing. That spirit continues today in our focus on conscious shopping: choosing what truly serves you and reducing what doesn’t. We want you to buy what’s right for you, even if it means buying less.

  • TAKING ACTION

Aspiration alone isn’t enough. We’re working to turn our commitments into meaningful progress, continuously assessing the ways we operate and where we can make the biggest improvements.

We’re taking steps to reduce our environmental footprint by improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, and minimizing emissions where possible. We’re focusing on our supply chain sourcing by working with partners who share our commitment to positive change.

  • We’re addressing our packaging sustainability while ensuring our products remain safe and effective. And we’re setting internal targets to track our progress and sharing updates along the way – because we know that transparency, accountability, and achievement are essential to any real improvement.

This work is ongoing because there is always more to do. By challenging ourselves to make thoughtful choices, we hope to contribute to a better future where the benefits of nature are available for all to experience.
